Today there are a million options for building a web site. If you are looking for a quick and affordable way to build a quality web site, this article is for you.

Use content management software

Content management software (cms) allows you to build a web site with little or no web experience. Open source content management software is free and easy to use. The software you choose should enable you to easily add pages, change navigation and upload images without any web programming or HTML knowledge. Picture the software to have an interface similar to a Microsoft program. Each option in the program will have an intuitive icon that will direct you where to go.

A few recommendations are Joomla and WordPress. Both have their pros and cons. If you are an experienced webmaster you may prefer Joomla. In general Joomla offers more flexibility and control over the look and feel of the site.

If you are less experienced, WordPress is highly recommended. For an inexperienced user, the various options Joomla provides can seem daunting. With WordPress you have less control over the overall look of the site, but it is much easier to use and faster to learn.

Choose a hosting provider that allows for one click installation of CMS

Now that you’ve chosen your content management software, you will want to choose a hosting company that allows for one click installation of the software. A few recommendations are Hostican and Blue Host. Both hosting solutions include installment of all major open source content management providers, so no matter which one you choose, you will be able to easily install it onto your hosting platform. Both solutions also offer hosting as low as $7.00/month.

Purchase a domain name from an affordable registrar

Domain names can now be purchased for $10 or less per year from all major registrars. I highly recommend Go Daddy. Even if you find a solution that may be a few dollars less per month the customer service that Go Daddy provides is excellent. This is an extremely important quality to find with your domain company because at times you may need technical assistance or help and you want to make sure you can get it right away, otherwise your site could go down and you will have no one reliable to call.

Purchase stock photography from an affordable company

While tons of companies today are charging a large amount to purchase their images, there are plenty of other sources that offer stock photography at great prices. Snap Village sells images for web use starting at $1 per image. More interesting images can cost $5 and up, but are still very affordable.

Once you’ve setup your hosting account, content management system, purchased your domain and your stock photography you are ready to start adding pages. Using these guidelines you can have a site up for less than $30. Don’t wait, get started today!
overstock coupon codes

The easiest way to create a website is to use one of the free open-source content management systems. Many bloggers choose WordPress because it has a simpler user interface and beginners need less learning. Joomla is considered to be more complicated and not suitable for beginners. The truth is that for every new system you have to learn something new and the best method is learning by doing. Joomla is universal CMS, you can adapt it for almost any online purpose. If you have no experience with creating websites or content management systems, Joomla has everything needed to make the first steps in online presence. One of the strengths of Joomla is also a great web community. For any problem you may encounter there is some answer on the web waiting for you.

To get first experience and to learn the basic principles of creating web pages it is best to have Joomla installed on your computer. Since typical web CMS is not a desktop application but only a script, you need a special environment to run it. This means Apache web server, MySQL database and PHP processor. You don’t have to install them separately, there are some simple solutions like WampServer or EasyPHP which provide everything needed to run any PHP script. You will also need a database–install phpMyAdmin and use it to create one database and remember its name, username and password. Joomla installation is also very simple, you simply unpack the archive in the www folder and start the installation procedure. You will have to enter the database data and a password for administration. You will also be asked whether to install sample data. You should do it unless you already know Joomla. After the installation is finished you have a working website. You can test it in the browser by entering “localhost” or the address of the computer where you have installed it into the address bar of the web browser.

You will need some time to understand basic principles of CMS and website creation. Simply log in to the administration back-end and check all menus to see what is available there. Try to make some changes and see what effect they have on the website. You should also search web for Joomla tutorials. Again, if you are new to Joomla and web content management systems you will need some time before you will be able to make the website according to your needs and taste. Whenever you have a question or problem simply Google for it. Joomla has a big community of developers and users, every task or problem is already described somewhere.
About the Author: wine reviews
